Well, you're right that it's the almost exact similar except for the 'intention' of the artists which is viewed by others. Well, For Ten Ryu art is something that can create an emotion or feelings similar to the creator's in the period of the art's creation and eroticism is one of many important factor of that for 'beauty' which is one of many ultimate goal of art.
However in the case of pornography, 'eroticism' is used for sexual oriented objectives which is giving humans 'bad influences' as an ultimate goal. Since the people in Indonesia is mostly narrow minded, they are easily manipulated by certain people into seeing only the 'eroticism' part of arts that will make it's label turn from 'art' into 'pornography'. pornography itself is not equal to nakedness by the way; the same with eroticism huh? since some act in nakedness can even be 'funny', nakedness can also be considered comedy instead of erotic. :)
Not that I think lowly of Indonesian minds but most of Indonesian people are easily manipulated like in the sheep-fight politics (politik adu domba? akah!).In the end too, the people's perspective is the last judge (which is sadly always goes to the negative part). As in your comment you and your class said that 'Venus Something' is not pornography then it is not a pornography, but when other people in another society saw it, they may think otherwise. (even if it is unlikely, but it MIGHT happens right?)

hum... in the end, our perspective is almost the same. When will the so called 'adult' people in our country be 'adult' enough to see other's 'intention' without being a 'judge'? I hope more people have closer perspective to us in the future. :)
